Description:
A handsome percussion traveling pistol made by C. Robbins of London, England (stamped on top of the barrel). .45 caliber, octogon  5" barrel. The overall length is approximately 8". The barrel may have been originally blued. It is now mostly bright steel with a few touches of blue at the tip and two silver bands  at the other end near the hammer. These bands were usually indicative of high quality workmanship.
.The lock and hammer show about 40-50% blue and are nicely engraved as is the trigger guard. There is a cap or storage box at the bottom of the grip butt. The grip is nicely checkered and in excellent condition. The rest of the wood is also in very good condition. There are  no splits, cracks or lost wood. The action is strong.  There is an unmarked oval name plate on the grip. The ramrod looks original to the pistol. It is estimated that this gun was made  between 1820 and 1840. There are no proof marks evident although I did not look under the barrel.  The action works but is a little tight.
