This is a very handsome rifle that has a 12-15 dated, SA barrel with the metal retaining 60-70% of the original blue, and has some mild fading at the muzzle as well as on some of the exposed edges and projections. The receiver has a commensurate amount of the original blue finish and the bolt, likewise has a similar amount of original blue remaining. The magazine cut-off has muted original color case-hardening remaining and the trigger guard/floorplate assembly has rich original blue remaining with some mild specks of freckling along the edges. The walnut handguard and correct, low-wood stock with single recoil bolt are in excellent condition with only some very minor handling marks and small blemishes marring the otherwise excellent original oil finish. The “P (in circle)” proof and “JSA” inspector's cartouche are still sharp and crisp while the finely checkered butt plate and barrel bands have a mottled blue-black patina throughout. An original nickel steel oiler is present in the stock compartment. This is a truly lovely 1915 dated '03 Springfield that has lots of original condition on both the metal and wood, and would make a fantastic addition to any collection of high grade Model 1903s or American Military longarms.
