Description:
#1497 Remington Model 1879 Rolling Block carbine, made for Argentina and adopted as their main line weapon in 1879. Caliber .43-Spanish, it has a Ex.Fine bore, about an 9 on a scale of 10, the action is fine and tight EXCEPT it does need the breech block spring, as this one is either missing or broken. It may be usable as it is, but probably would make fast ejecting of the spent cartridge an issue. It has fine metal and VG+ wood, but has been professionally refinished with 95% of that reblue remaining. Standard military carbine rear sight and military pinched blade front. It probably should be noted that the 43-Spanish cartridge is almost the same cartridge as the powerful 44/77 Sharps BN, which was a major buffalo hunting round in the 1870s, and so in a gun this small and light this must be a real dental filling loosener when fired! Woe to the unsuspecting shootist who does not down-load the powder charge!! Neat little gun and would make a GREAT big-bore back packing gun. About Excellent as refinished. $795 ....SALE! $750
