Caliber 45Govt with decent bore (about a 7 on a scale of 10), very good action, and tight breech block. The lock markings are partially rather dim (see photos), probably due to excessive cleaning, and the cartouche on the stock is also worn away, although both the metal and wood look better than most carbines that are in “VG”condition. It does have the correct rear “C” marked Buffington sight, the serrated trigger, and is in the correct serial range for a carbine. The metal is a very smooth even grey color overall and the wood has no serious blemishes. A very handsome “middle-of-the-road” Cavalrymans weapon of the late Indian Wars Era.
