Description:
These were the last single shot smooth bore pistols issued to the U. S. Army.Manufactured by Henry Aston of Middleton, Connecticut, the lock is stamped MIDDtn / CONN 1851 just aft of the hammer.Employs a swiveling ram rod with button type tamp. Many of these fine horse pistols were used during the first years of the Civil War.
