Series ll revolvers were made from Jan 30, 1860-September 1, 1861. The U.S. Ordnance Department of the U.S. Army purchased 500 36 caliber Manhattan revolvers and 5000 paper cartridges. They were ordered on September 23, 1861. The 6.5” Series ll Manhattan revolver looked very similar to the Colt Model 1862 Police and the Colt 1862 Pocket Navy revolver, both 36 caliber. The 6 ½” barrel was the most desirable length. This is a nice Manhattan Navy with a 6.5” barrel with 80% barrel blue. Case colors are silvery and dark with 40% silver on the trigger guard and back strap. The serial number on this 5 shot is 4290 and are all matching serial numbers, including the wedge. The grips retain 98% varnish. The mechanical function is very good and tight and the bore is very good, bright and shinny with only a very small amount of corrosion.
