CIVIL WAR SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1863 RIFLE MUSKET DATED 1863 W/ BAYONET. .58 caliber 40” barrel with crisp Govt. proofs at the left breech. 100% original and complete as issued. Lock dated “1863” and clearly stamped “EAGLE/U.S./SPRINGFIELD”. Barrel breech date worn and no longer legible. Very nice looking overall with soft grey metal patina and beautiful wood with old dark handling patina. Faint and worn cartouche but is visible at the rear of the side panel just above the trigger. Excellent bore with sound rifling with well defined lands and grooves that will clean up even better. Fine original U.S. Model 1855 bayonet in matching condition. Nice “US” stamped on base of blade
