Description:
Delightful .36 caliber Nelson Lewis "TROY" marked percussion rifle in very good plus condition.  Lewis is a well documented New York maker.  Looks a lot like an English sporting rifle with the exception of the crescent butt plate.

Beautiful American Black Walnut stock retains much of its original surface.  Very nicely sculpted cheek piece and excellent classic lines. Checkering is still very good and crisp.  Small crack below lock, readily seen in the pictures.  Any easy fix by any competent gunsmith.

Lock clicks up nicely but half cock does not hold if trigger is pulled.  Fly in tumbler.  Single set trigger, needs tuning to work in set mode, works fine as a regular trigger. Very good bore.  Nipple comes right out if you want to replace it.  Would make an excellent shooter for a smaller framed marksman or hunter. Replacement rear sight from the cartridge era, probably early 20th century.  Has a little holder that goes in the dovetail, so no extra drilling and tapping has occured to hold it in place.  A correct one could be easily fitted.  Provisions in the tang for a lollipop peep sight.  28" barrel length.  Neat candy striped ramrod, missing its tip.

Ships for $50 nicely packaged to the lower 48.
