Description:
.52 caliber, percussion breechloading action.  Long sling bar.  Walnut stock and forend with brass mounts and patchbox.  Serial number 12982, one number away from 12983 which is listed in the partial number records of carbines listed in Sharps Firearms, by Frank Sellers, page 91.  These are shown as being sent to the "KANSAS AID SOCIETIES"  and arriving in Lawrence, Kansas on May 23, 1855 marked as "BOOKS".  In very fine original condition.
