Description:
The Marlin 39 was made from 1922 to 1938, with between 40-50,000 manufactured. The little rifles were fitted with a 24 inch octagon barrel with full tube magazine, were equipped with open sights, were of take-down configuration, S-shaped pistol grip, blue finished barrel, forend tip, magazine tube, bolt, hammer and screws, color case-hardened frame and lever, and various grades of walnut (X, 2X, or 3X). Early guns had a "S" prefix in their serial numbers or no prefix at all, the later guns had a "HS" prefix. This gun has an "HS" prefix in its serial number, making it a late manufactured rifle (1935). This gun retains about 75-80% of its original blue and about 40% of its original color case-hardened finish. The stock and forarm retain most all of their original finishes, with assorted handling marks and dings, but no chips or cracks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and the action functions great.
