Sharp wood with excellent cartouche and smooth metal with a little roughness around the bolster. Lock and barrel dated 1864 with an excellent rifled bore as many of these are now smoothbore. This exact rifle is pictured in the book Confederate Longarms and Pistols by Anthony and Hill. This rifle is fantastic and guaranteed 100% original. The HOLE in the lockplate was made when being drilled on other side for mainspring stud and worker drilled too far. It's not the first or last on some Fayettevilles and Richmond muskets.
