Caliber .43-Spanish, it has a VG bore, about a 7 and should clean to a 7-1/2 on a scale of 10. It does have some darkness and roughness in the grooves but the rifling is strong and the action is fine and tight. It has fine metal and VG+ wood, but has been professionally refinished with 95% of that reblue remaining. Standard military rear sight and military pinched blade front. Also fitted with a sabre bayonet rail, but no bayonet included and the cleaning rod is also missing. It probably should be noted that the 43-Spanish cartridge is almost the same cartridge as the powerful 44/77 Sharps BN, which was a major buffalo hunting round in the 1870s, and so reloadable brass should be readily available on-line from various sources. Decent looking old rifled musket and the rolling block action can take heavy loads so this should make a GREAT entry level big-bore rifle for single shot matches. About Fine as refinished. $595 ....SALE! $495 SOLD Antique: Yes |
