Description:
This carbine is an early first block production. The Underwood barrel is dated 12-42. This carbine's serial number is 1452464. Underwood was one of the companies that made barrels for National Postal Meter. This barrel is bright and clean with no issues. The "I" stock has all the correct stampings for National Postal Meter. However the stampings show wear from service use but the stampings can still be made out. This carbine does show real service use. When I cleaned this carbine there was still some black sand in the stock recess and in the action. The stock and forend have no cracks or splits. All the parts are correct Natinal Postal Meter and appear to be original to this gun. National Postal Meter is a fairly rare carbine in the early production run. The total production run was 413017 carbines which places this company at 6.8% of the total production of carbines during the war. The flat bolt is mostly patina with faint traces of bluing. The sling and oiler are original early G.I. issue. This gun has a correct National Postal Meter marked Magazine. This carbine would be a real hard to find addition for any collector to add to their collection. This is especially true for a early "I" stock variation! Search for hlvfineguns
