An exceptional pig skin covered powder flask built by American Flask and Cap Co. -The body is 8" by 4 1/2". All the original leather cover and seams are in place. Unpolished original brass fittings, complete with original spout spring and original green cord and tassels. See page 267 of "The Powder Flask Book" fig 50 & 52 for similar maker's mark. Advertised by the original maker as Morocco hog skin and best hog skin. The spout is graduated from 3 to 4 drams. See page 13 of the above for the Tryon catalog 1864 listing of this and other flasks built by American Flask, built in Waterbury Conn. An exceptional example, for the collector who demands the best.
