Description:
This 3 inch wide, 45 inch lo9ng belt is shown and described on pages 331-2 of Dorsey's American Military and Naval Belts 1812-1902. A large unit marking ," 7B73" is stencille3d on right end. The belt body shows three copper lines down both sides and the stitching and guide lines are exactly as shown on page 332. left end has a keeper and brass loop, right end is bare. Belt ends are frayed and entire piece shows light soiling with wear and a few stains. These belts were originally ordered in 30 caliber with a change order issued on 28 June 1898 requesting 45-70 sized loops. An interesting piece from the Spanish American War era.
