Description:
NSN, 11.15 x 58R, 33” barrel with a very good bore that has light freckling and pinprick pitting within the grooves. This is a nice old rifle that has “WERNDL” marking on the receiver and has an overall dark plum-brown patina on the metal, some fading and silvering at the muzzle and high edges, as well as spots of mild freckling along the barrel. The frame, lock, and standard trigger guard have a predominantly dark brown patina as well, but with some mild surface oxidation along the edges and a few areas of mild freckling starting to appear on the exterior of the rotary bolt. The European walnut stock has numerous small handling marks and blemishes scattered throughout with some surface bruising at the toe of the butt and a small chip missing from the tail of the lockplate. Additionally, there are nearly symmetrical cracks running diagonally through the top of the wrist on either side, running up from the tip of the top tang. Nevertheless, the action is tight and fully functional, and an original metal ramrod is included. This is a nice example of a Werndl Infantry Rifle in about good condition overall. Antique
