Description:
Purdey Best 20 Bore SxS Shotgun   ****REDUCED PRICE*****
1929, GREAT WOOD, CONDITION, 2 3/4" PROOFED

General Specs: Purdey, Year 1929, 20 Gauge, 5lbs 9oz, Side by Side
Serial Number: 23898

Purdey s x s shotguns are considered to be the finest vintage doubles ever produced.  With the Beesley self-opening action, meticulous hand fitting of metal and wood, the Purdey is the zenith of the London gun trade.  Here we have a meticulous little 20 bore FULLY DOCUMENTED BY PURDEY OF LONDON WITH A FACTORY LETTER.  If you have ever enquired of Purdey for the cost of building a gun like this in today's market you know cost would exceed $115,000.    Being offered at a very attractive price and still in remarkable condition, as reproofed in England last winter.  The barrels were reblacked, wood and checkering refreshed, and a few worn parts replaced to make the gun as new inside and out.  This fine Purdey still retains its factory original clear, sharp engraving and about 65% of the original case colors.  What a great value on the finest upland bird gun one can buy.  Built in 1929 during the "Golden Era" of Purdey guns, or "between the wars" as you so often hear, it will only become more valuable as you enjoy its use.  It is amazing how perfect a hand made London small bore can feel in YOUR hand.  You just know you have the best, and it is magic.  Weighing 5lbs. 9 oz. and balanced perfectly on the hinge pin, you could walk the hills and dales all day long with nary an ache, and  just know you would shoot with flawless perfection wherever fortunate enough to carry this treasure.   Cased in a custom fit vintage English leather case with all of the usual accessories.
