Westley Richards Magnum Express, circa 1931, .425 Westley Richards Magnum, 9 lbs. 8 oz., 14 3/4" LOP, 27" barrel marked "Westley Richards & Co. London" with an island rear sight with one fixed leaf and four folding leaves marked 100-500 yards, ramp front post sight without hood, bottom barrel mounted front swivel, military mauser action retaining it's original wing safety, action has never been drilled and tapped for a scope mount, Westley's exterior steel drop magazine with a horn tapered tip, original straight grained English walnut stock with horn forend tip, steel grip cap, steel butt plate with trap door to hold a cleaning rod, rear swivel, vacant stock oval. Very good condition original rifle with a very good shootable bore with well defined rifling, numerous use marks in the stock as it should be. A quality and dependable working rifle made for the African hunting trade that achieved the magical 5000 ft. lbs. of energy with a 410 grn. bullet traveling 2350 ft/sec. John Taylor thought the 5000 energy mark was the measure of true stopping power.
