Description:
This LC Smith 20 gauge Field Grade shotgun manufactured in 1920 is properly restored to bring it back to a condition similar to what it would have been after a few years use by the original owner.  The barrels are re-blued using the slow rust blue process.  The color case hardening was redone by Classic Guns in Crete, IL.  The wood finish is hand rubbed stock oil.

This classic gun has 2-3/4” chambers, and the 28” fluid steel barrels are choked Improved Cylinder (.007) and Modified (.015).  The wall thickness (top/side/bottom) for the right barrel at 9” from muzzle is 025/.032/.036 and at the middle of the barrel is .024/.026/.025; the left barrel is .039/.038/.038 and .026/.030/.025, respectively.  Bores 9” from the breech are .622/.614 respectively.  The outside diameters at the muzzle are .684 and .680, respectively.

A Feather Weight model it weighs 6 lb 8 oz.  The drop at the comb is 1-3/4” and at the heel 3”.  Length of pull in 14-1/4” from the front trigger to the end of a period Pachmayr 3/4” recoil pad. The wood at the interface with the action, often a problem with LC Smith’s, is solid.  At some point in this gun’s history the bottom of its stock was professionally spliced with a well-matched piece of wood, probably to repair a broken toe.  The gun locks up tight and on face; the top lever returns to the right of center.  All serial numbers, 23367, match.

The inspection period is 7 days from receipt by buyer.  This shotgun has been fired on five-stand and sporting clay ranges using factory 2-3/4” target loads.  However, as for any vintage shotgun, it is recommended that the new owner have it inspected by a professional gunsmith before firing.  The gun carries a 30-day warrantee, during which Back in Time will have any mechanical problems documented by a professional gunsmith repaired or accept the return of the gun and refund the price of the gun and the return shipping cost.  The listed price does not include shipping costs paid by the buyer.  Please do not hesitate to call with questions Stephen Wesbrook, 703-625-4830; Back in Time, LLC -- preserving late 19th and early 20th Century double shotguns.
