Description:
For sale is a very nice Ed. Kettner drilling chambered in 16 x 16 x 9.3 x 72R Sauer. This fine old drilling was made in Germany in the early 1900's (before 1912). It has many very nice features and even shoots good. The barrels are 26 7/8 inches and the shotgun barrels are choked I.C and Full with 2 1/2 inch chambers. The rifle barrel is chambered in the somewhat unusual 9.3x72R Sauer. This drilling has an ammo trap on top of the stock that holds 4 rounds of rifle ammo, set trigger for the rifle barrel, claw scope bases, a rifle cocking button on the tang which also raises the rifle sight on the barrel, horn trigger guard, and the safety on the left side of the stock. When I first purchased this drilling I had quite a time figuring out what the rifle barrel was chambered for since the off the shelf 9.3x72R ammo would only go about half way in the chamber. I found the bore measured .358 instead of the normal .366. I also had to cut the rims from the standard diameter to .474. I then made a chamber cast and sent it to CH4D for a custom set of dies. After all of this and some load testing I came up with a load that shoots very well. My final load is 38 grains of reloader 15 with the 200 grain .358 Hornady round nose bullet. this load shoots about 2 inches high at 100 yards. As for any load information I assume no liability. As for the condition of this gun the checkering is worn but the finish on the barrels is quite good and the action is very sound.
