PAIR OF ORNATE FRENCH PERC. DUELLING PISTOLS BY DEVISME OF PARIS CIRCA 1850. 16 ½” o/a with 10” very fine Damascus .50 caliber multi groove rifled barrels inlaid in gold at their breeches “1” and “2”. Scroll engraved lock and steel mounts. Floral carved ebony stocks with fluted grips and silver wire floral inlay on the side panels and nickel silver wedge escutcheons. Locks signed behind the hammers on the recessed step with maker’s name “DEVISME”. Both pistols serial numbered “1178” on the toe of the stocks. Good to very good overall and 100% original. Metal with the original coin finish with surface and corrosion from poor storage. Stocks excellent with the number “1” pistol having a very minor hairline on the wrist. Working order and with good bores and well defined rifling. Devisme was one of the best Parisian maker of the 19th Century. High quality duelling pistols well worth restoring.
