Cal 22. The model 38 is a take down slide action that had a button on the upper tang and they came apart easily. This gun is in very good shape with all blue remaining. Light freckling to the bbl metal. Wood is also VG cond. Good fitting with no cracks or losses. Most of the finish remains. There is an aged alligatoring to the finish on the buttstock. Both bore and action are VG+. Most people do not realize how many different slide actions that Marlin made. This is a very good example.
