Description:
Serial #945994, .45 ACP, 5” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1943-made, early production pistol that has a High Standard-made barrel and retains 90-92% of the original Du-Lite blue finish on the metal. There is gray fading towards the muzzle, along the exposed edges and projections, and some small scratches and marks on the frame next to the slide lever. The heat treatment line on the slide ahead of the ejection port is strong. Some mild plum-brown freckling occurs within the slide serrations, and there is silvering and gray fading along the gripstrap, grip safety, and mainspring housing as well. The first type factory markings, “P” proofs, Ordnance stamp, and “FJA” inspector stamp are still clear and legible, and the red-brown Keyes Fiber Co. checkered resin grips are in very good shape with some flattening of the points and minor surface scuffs and handling marks at the butt on both panels. A single “S” marked Scovill-made magazine is included. This is a fine plus example of an early production Remington-Rand 'A1 and would make a great addition to a collection. FFL or C&R
