This is a 50 cal and one of the many carbines that were used in the Civil War. Overall cond is quite aged with a mostly brown patina. Receiver is the typical molten grey/brown from case colors aging for 150 years. Forearm has chips missing along the top. Buttstock is in pretty good cond except for a chip out on the top where it meets the frame. Guns like this make a great decorative wall piece. Interesting guns that incite conversation. Civil War carbines make a good collection and these aren't a lot of money. Leroy Merz Antique Firearms specializes in antique and vintage Winchesters and other fine American firearms.
