Description:
These were made by the Meriden Manufacturing Co during the Civil War. These were 50 cal and had a 7-round mag tube. A very unique and rather strange repeater. They have a swivel mechanism for the bbl which engages the mag tube which is in the butt thus loading a fresh round. You twist it back into position, fire and go through the process again. If necessary, you do not have to use the repeater and could load it singly. Standard markings on this gun with Triplett and Scott on the upper tang. On the right side of the frame is the Meriden marking and on the breech itself is "Kentucky". Serial number on the right hand side of the frame is 4124. This is a pretty nice one. Metal is an attractive aged patina. Bore is VG. Bright and shiny with good rifling. Light roughness in some spots. Wood is way above average. A typical crack coming of the magazine tube. No missing wood. Still equipped with the 2 slings on the buttstock which is correct. A very good collectable Civil War rifle you can own without breaking the bank.
