Description:
This is a rolling block action and has the Remington patent on the upper tang. On the receiver on the right side is "USM Springfield 1870". This is one of the rolling blocks that was built by Springfield in agreement with Remington. The cal marking on the bbl is "43". All the metal is a grey/brown. The bbl has some pitting that was cleaned years ago and has turned an antique color. You can feel and see those pits. The receiver also has some blotchy pits mostly on the left side. The right side where the marking is looks quite nice. Inside the bore is actually pretty good with strong rifling. Light to moderate pitting in the chamber area and light roughness throughout. This bore would be at least good to good plus. As in most of the Rolling Blocks the action is nice and solid. The wood is in overall good cond. Shy at the upper tang. The forearm is in good overall cond and may have had some oil rubbed on it years ago. An interesting collectible gun.
