Known for high quality craftsmanship and dependability. This pistol exhibits all of those traits. A beautiful full walnut stock, nicely checkered grip, engraved lock, hammer and barrel tang with a gold band opposite the hammer. The action is strong and the hammer locks up at full and 1/2 cock. The .72 caliber 8" heavy octogon barrel is marked on top "Manton London". There is a front and rear sight and a captive ramrod. The barrel has a brown finish, much of which remains. Other metal parts were blued and much of that remains.There is a blank escutcheon plate at the grip top.There is no rust and the wood has suffered very few marks. There is a small crack on the left side from a screw opposite the hammer. John Manton was in business from 1780 to 1820. This pistol was likely made between 1800 and 1820. Antique- No FFL Required, can ship direct. Except for a slight difference in the trigger guard design, (condition aside) this pistol is identical to my #63, Guns International # 100604918.
