Description: SOLD...Antique 1894 Marlin. 44-40 round barrel. Nice bore. Excellent mechanics. Here is an above average ANTIQUE 1894 Marlin rifle. S/N 121233 and made in 1895 second year MFG. . The caliber is in the very sought after 44-40. Has the standard 24" round barrel. The bore is very good. Has strong rifling all the way through and shows some minor roughness mainly down in the grooves. With some shooting and cleaning I think it will clean up a bit better. NO big craters , rings or bulges. It shoots just fine. Mechanics are excellent. It feeds, fires and ejects just fine. Both hammer notches are positive and strong un like many of these early Marlins. Most have a broken safety notch but this one is perfect. The finish is an untouched deep plumb brown patina that has never been cleaned on or messed with at all. Just the way you love to find them.. There is still some traces of blue peaking through the patina with a bright light. The lever still has some vivid case colors on both sides in the protected areas {see photo}.. NO pitting anywhere on the gun. One screw on the right side of the receiver is a little burred up but the rest are fine. The markings are all good. Has the original front and rear sights. The wood is very fine on this one. The forearm it tight and proud to the metal all around. NO splits, cracks or repairs and still has about 20% original varnish. The butt stock is fine as well and fits tight and proud to the metal. Has one tiny chip right behind the upper tang {sse photos}.. NO spits, cracks or repairs and retains about 50% or so original varnish. Has a streek of what looks like some solvent that ran down the left side of the butt stock and it has removed some varnish. Nothing bad or detracting from this fine ole Marlin. Just very fine wood on this one. Antique 1894 Marlins are hard to find and this one is in the very sought after 44-40 caliber. The gun looks like it came right out of the attic and has not fell into the hands of butchers. A very nice looking ole 94 Marlin. You will like it I am sure or your money back. $50 insured shipping and NO FFL needed. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos of a certain area you want to see.
