Description:
This is a very scarce Russian Contract Colt Berdan I rifle chambered in .42 cal. This rifle was a production sample that was pulled from assembly line to be left at the factory. It was later sold to John R. Hegeman Jr, a renown Colt collector of the early 1900s. His cartouch is visible on the stock near trigger guard. The gun features a 32 1/2" barrel and has serial number 10. The rifle is pictured and described on page 180 of the "Colt and its Collectors" book. This gun is unfired and has about 99% blue on the barrel and vivid case colors on the breech. Stock has some handling marks and sratches and what appears to be some kind of a round clamp pressure marks on the butt stock. No cracks or splits. Trigger guard and barrel bands show about 80% original blue. This is rare opportunity to own a very rare and iconic gun that came from one of the best known Colt collections. ) No license needed except NJ residents.
