Description:
S/N was applied in 1898 And the gun was shipped in 1900, The Cody sheet lists it as a 45-70 22" round barrel, Full magazine, extra lightweight rifle, set trigger, shotgun butt, and rubber butt plate. It has a very good to excellent bore, It retains all of the listed features with the exception of being converted to a standard trigger. (Many Winchester's were converted to non set for safety or reliability during their life) In this case the rear close coupled trigger was removed, most of the internal set parts remain including the fly and screw and the front trigger was put operational. The receiver has faded silver and shows normal wear and marks, The barrel has approximately 80% original blue. The front sight is a gold bead Marbles tunnel sight that looks to be original but is not mentioned in the letter. There is one gouge on the lower left side of teh stock. The lettering is clear and sharp. A rare addition to any collection or hunt with it as is.
