Payment Types Accepted: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Amex, Check, Money Order Description: This is a fine example of one of the Model 1862 Sharps & Hankins carbines purchased by the U.S. Navy between 1862-1865. The frame is case hardened with the 2nd Model floating firing pin mounted in the recoil shield. The stock is an oil-finished walnut with a brass buttplate. The barrel has a brass blade front sight and a tangent rear sight graduated to 800 yards. The right side of the receiver is marked: "SHARPS & HANKINS / PHILDA" and the left side is marked: "SHARPS / PATENT / 1859". The serial number is located on the upper tang, on the lever bar, the underside of the barrel and the underside of the frame under the lever. Serial Number: 1859. Smooth straight grip stock with brass buttplate. Sling swivel is missing. See pictures Condition: Very good considering its age. The receiver retains 60% plus original case colors concentrated mainly on the sides with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The tangs have a smooth gray patina with some minor spotting on the lower tang. The leather on the barrel is missing. The stock is fine with a few minor dents and scratches. The buttplate has a pleasant, untouched aged patina. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent. This Model Sharp & Hankins is seldom found in this good of condition!
