Description:
From my  Library I am offering this unique and obviously rare find of a Civil War Confederate CAPTURED-battle proven.Sharps Carbine bearing Ser.94754. This particular carbine was discovered/hidden during the conflict in Cahaba,Alabama  when the town was moved to higher ground due to repeated flooding...the South was bankrupt and important buildings were dismantled and reassembled..it was during this time when this Sharps was found hidden in a wall behind the altar of the St. Lukes Episcopal Church during its dismantling. This carbine has a fine pitted exterior and some factory lettering is still visible. Obviously this Cavalry specimen saw some hard battles..NOT some closet gun that never seen the "elephant"(battle)..The grime/sweat/crud on the wood is STILL there from the Civil War as it has never been cleaned..! The action still functions tightly/smoothly and the BORE is rather nice after the wood was removed and the entire Carbine was then soaked in fuel oil to soften the rust and clean the bore which took several weeks of soaking & rubbing with a wool cloth NOT a wire brush. I have shot this carbine 5times using paper cartridge..still acceptably accurate at 500yds.! The ORIGINAL accoutrements going with this Sharps ARE GENUINE US Cavalry items but NOT tied in with this carbines discovery. They are NOT repro items. I will answer any questions you may have. The verification of this particular carbines discovery has been authenticated by a museum curator as shown. I seriously doubt you will ever locate another Sharps/other captured Carbine. Offers will be considereed. I am selling due to downsizing my residence. S&H-=$50.00 ConUSA FYI..This Set is offered also on another . THANKS for at least looking.
