Gold inlays and engraving done by George Ulrich at the Winchester Factory. This one along with 4 more custom rifles were ordered by Dr. Russell C. Smith in the late 1940's. A very special rifle such as this is hard to describe. I could go on and on about the quality, beauty and workmanship that went into building this rifle. There are gold animals and borders, beautiful Ulrich engraving, special factory matted finish on the 26" bbl, intricate checkering on the beautiful deluxe wood and a custom built Griffin & Howe scope mount engraved to match the rifle. Even the buttplate and screws all received special attention. Please look at the photos of this beautiful gun and you will see what I am talking about. There is no indication that this gun was ever fired. It is a one of a kind rifle that is photoed in The Model 70 Winchester book by Dean Whitaker.
