GEORGE KOPP 1810-1900, HUNTINGDON SCHOOL, PA., BURROUGH OF GEESEYTON NEAR ALTOONA. SON OF HUNTINGDON GUNSMITH ANDREW KOPP.
Full stock .41 caliber percussion rifle, 53” OAL with 37" Octagonal Barrel with a unique HOODED FRONT SIGHT. Double Set Triggers, weighs 9.32 lbs. & appears to be original ramrod but missing about 3” of wooden tip. Marked "G. Kopp" and has engraved brass patch-box, Curly Maple striped full length wood with silver inlays including a large silver cheek piece engraved with AMERICAN EAGLE & blank silver shield below tang. Typical brass Huntingdon style sideplate is nicely engraved, brass forend tip & trigger guard. Stock has a crack behind tang and possible repair forward of lock against barrel. Both have been nicely repaired & overall a beautiful example of a PA Rifle.
