Browning Superposed Gr III "Fighting Cocks" 12ga
Belgium manufacture s/n: 57395 (ca. 1957), 12ga with 2 3/4" chambers, blue steel 28" VR bbls. w/ single bead and choked M/F (**/*). Silver receiver, forend iron and trigger bow game scene engraved and double signed by master engraver: F. Funken w/ pheasants on right side, fighting roosters on left side and setter or spaniel retrieving a bird surrounded by European scroll engraving, single selective gold plated trigger. Nicely figured walnut round knob/long tang stock w/ point checkering pattern w/ borders, "lightning field" style forearm, stock has been cut and is 12 1/2" to the end of the wood and the LOP is 13 3/4" over a newish ventilated Browning pad, finish shows handling marks that lead you to believe that its original or at least re-done a long time ago. Overall wood and metal are about 95% w/ handling marks in the wood but no cracks, some scratches in the barrel finish, bores are good w/ a pin size dent in top barrel that should have no affect on shooting w/ reasonable loads; gray receiver shows some "tarnishing"...overall gun's condition is consistent with its age. Dimensions are 1 1/2 x 2 1/2", weighs: 7 lbs. 11 oz.
