Model 1842 Percussion Pistol
Manufactured by Henry Aston & Co of Middletown, Connecticut. Date marked on sideplate 1851. 8 ¼” smoothbore round barrel with brass blade front sight. .54 caliber. Proof stamp on barrel US/P. Approximately 6,000 units produced 1851 to 1852. Notable: Possibly a Naval specimen as barrel has additional “N” stamping.
Good overall condition given age. Barrel has lost most of the finish but is not pitted or corroded like many specimens from this time. Freckling on sideplate."M" stamped in front of trigger guard.
