Model 1842 Percussion Navy Pistol
Manufactured by N.P. Ames of Springfield, Massachusetts. Date marked 1845 on sideplate. This is a standard model with flat sideplate. .54 caliber smoothbore round barrel (6”). Approximately 2,000 units produced (1842-1847). Brass post front sight. Proof stamps on barrel USN/1845/R.P./P.
Specimen in good condition for the age (170 years) of the piece. Barrel retains some of the original brown finish. Stamping on sideplate is easily legible. Metal surfaces are in good condition with minimal pitting or rust damage.
