Description:
Serial #1855, .36 Caliber, 4 1/2” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has an area of pitting about halfway down its length. This is a handsome revolver has a small amount of the original bright blue remaining on the protected areas within the cylinder flutes. The balance of the metal has a darkly mottled gray-brown patina with light pitting on the high edges of the cylinder, and some traces of bright color case-hardening on the lever and within the cap cut-out in the recoil shield relief cut on the right side. All numbers match, including the wedge and arbor, and the cylinder which has unusual, Colt-style numbers between two of the flutes. The brass trigger guard and grip strap have about 75-80% of their original silver plate remaining with some pale, yellow-ochre underlying brass present at the heel and toe of the butt. The walnut grip has a fine original varnish finish remaining with some light handling marks and blemishes, and some light but noticeable wear around the flare at the butt on either side. The gun is tight, without any rattle, and is also mechanically excellent. Also included is a period tarred leather holster that has had the cover flap removed and is missing its riveted belt loop. This is a great little Colt percussion pocket revolver and is in very good plus-near fine condition overall. Antique
