Manufactured by American Machine Works of Springfield, Mass. Estimated 30,000 units produced (1861-1865). .50 caliber breechloader with 21 5/8” rifled barrel (half round/half octagonal). Stamped on left side MANUFACTUERD BY/AM’N.M’CH’N WKS/SPRINGFIELD MASS.

Brass blade front sight, rear ladder sight. Barrel release lever located in front of trigger. Walnut stock in good condition with light scratches and dings. Cartouche are clearly visible on left side. Barrel was originally blue finish but now a deep brown patina. Metal surfaces have light freckling. Bore has good rifling.
