A well-maintained and unmolested example with 26" barrels inscribed with maker's name and address, textured rib w. silver bead front and 2 leaf rear graduated to "200" yards. Sling swivels intact. Jones underlever action retains about 50% of original metal finish with sharp intricate scroll and rich case colors. Nicely figured wood with multi-point checkering patterns and a checkered buttplate, vacant silver shield. Oak and leather maker's case with original label contains a brass bullet mold, powder measure, a cartridge pouch with empty cases, a 5 round box of 270 grain Kynoch .450 BPE, an oil bottle, and various tools. The case lid is marked with "CAPT C. J. ANSTRUTHER-THOMSON/17TH LANCERS" who was decorated fighting the Zulus at Ulundi.
