Description:
Providence Tool Co. "Peabody Carbine"...Imagine opening a case of new Peabody carbines in 1870..This gun looks like it just came out of that case...Considered a Civil War era carbine but actually not made until the war was over...Single shot lever action .50 caliber rim fire, saddle ring carbine possibly destined for a forgeign country...Martini style dropping block action...20" round barrel held with a single barrel band...Open sights...Saddle ring intact...Like new bore and action...Clean 100% factory satin blued barrel...Case colored receiver, lever, back action lock and exposed hammer...Smooth walnut forearm has one little side chip...Excellent matcing straight grip stock has a tiny chip where the lock meets the wood...Case colored smooth metal carbine style butt plate...There are scattered military like sub inspestor's on the metal and an excellent "W.C.", foreign contract, company inspector's cartouche...Gun looks simular to a Spencer Model 1865?...Possibly unfired and difficult to improve upon!....Any questions please call or e-mail
