14-163 FINE BRITISH FLINTLOCK BRASS BBL.TRADE PISTOL
Fine British Flintlock Brass Bbl.trade Pistol, c. 1770’s 8-3/4” Octagonal, .70 cal. Brass Barrel Trigger guard ramrod pipes and German silver escutcheon on stock wrist. w/ (2) English proofs and “LONDON” with some engraving on barrel. Metal is very clean with almost no corrosion. Wood very good a few small dents, dings, hairline cracks, etc., Lock is marked “R. Ashmore “Warranted”, with some floral engraving on lock, tang, Acorn Finial on trigger guard; gun is 14” overall length. In good working order, locks up on full and half cock. A very nice Brass Barrel example probably made for trade, but that could have seen service during the American Revolutionary War period.
