Mauser (byf), Dated 44, Model 98K, Caliber 8 mm, Serial Number 1XX x. An outstanding example of a height of the war Mauser. The rifle retains, easily about 80-83% of the original late war blue. The bulk of the loss is just some sharp edge silvering, a few scattered pin pricks and some graying of the floor plate and trigger assembly. The barrel is stamped Eagle/ Swastika, Eagle/135. The receiver is stamped Eagle/Swastika. All parts match including the stock and buttplate with the correct contractor's code for it. The laminated wood stock is in remarkable condition, with just an occasional surface ding. At some point the gun was captured by the French and it was modified to their sling attachment system. The bolt face and feed ramp show little use and the bore is just great. The rifling is sharp and well defined with just a hint of graying. This is a non-import marked K-98 with a wonderful history. It looks really great and should do very well on the range. $1295.
