Description:
SOLD...Colt 1860 Conversion ....1st model with 85% scene. Here is a very nice and above average 1860 Colt 1st model conversion. Caliber is in the .44 Colt center fire and loaded ammo and components are avaiable from many sources. It is a great shooter... The cylinder scene is very clear and about 85%. S/N 194855 and all matching of course. This is the 1st model with the rebounding firing pin in the conversion ring. Has the standard 8" barrel that has NOT been cut and restored as many you will find. The mechanics are excellent. Crisp and tight as a new gun. It indexes perfectly and locks up like new. NO cylinder wobble on the arbor pin. Rock solid barrel to frame fit. This gun has no looseness or play anywhere. The metal shows some original nickel finish. The barrel has about 10% or so. The cylinder has most all the nickel in the rear rebate area as you can see in the photos. Over all the cylinder has about 30%. The frame and the conversion ring has just traces by the hammer and rear sight. The back strap shows nickel on the butt with the S/N and no silver on the trigger guard. The balance of the metal is a smooth  medium brown patina that has never been cleaned on or messed with. You can get a better idea of the metal condition on the close up photos rather than the photos that show the whole gun. One small spot on the cylinder that shows  some minor pin prick pitting but that is it.... NO pitting anywhere else on the gun. All the markings are excellent. This one still retains the original ejector housing. ejector rod and head. Most of these have had the rod and head replaced from the later Colt SAA as they are prone to breaking off. This gun is 100% all original except for a replaced modern wedge which is very common on these models and does not detract from this fine conversion. The screw heads are clean and not all burred up. The bore is very good with stong rifling and some very minor roughness, NO big pits, rings or bulges. The chambers are clean also. The grips are very good with NO splits, chips or cracks and show some minor wear to the heels and toes only. The fit is perfect and they are original to the gun. This is a very solid and well above average 1st model 1860 conversion. These are often found in very rough condition and many have had the barrels cut. They were used very hard and are the very first catridge guns on the frontier way before the Colt SAA was even thought about. These are the true old west cowboy revolvers. You either find minty ones for $8000 to $10,000 or the junk wall hangers for $2000 and up. This one is a great example at a very affordable price and would make a fine collector or a great shooter for sure. I personaly collect these large frame Colt conversiond so if it does not sell, I don't mind keeping it !!!!!  $30 insured shipping Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos.
