Description:
This is the first one of these Lugers that we have had in 42 years of business. It is a Nazi period commercial rework that was sold by the still famous firm of J.G. Anschutz. It is all matching numbers with the exception of the magazine and an un-numbered (number has been removed) barrel. The barrel is stamped with the caliber marking (Cal. 7.65), J.G. ANSCHUTZ, and a fairly large eagle N, that also appears on the right side of the receiver. This is a post 1939 Luger that was made for the german populace, a 1937 law made it unlawful for a civilian to own a 9mm handgun, hence the 7.65 barrel and the eagle N proof which was used after 1939. In order for a civilian to buy a handgun he would have to get a "pistol permit" which was generally reserved for Nazi Party Members. According to Charles Kenyon ("Luger at Random") and others, there were "very few" of these Lugers produced. This would be a great addition to any Luger collection.
