Description:

Browning Pointer Grade 20 gauge O/U shotgun.  Manufactured in Belgium in 1960.  This has to be one of the very first “Pointer” grade 20’s made!  Final approval for the Pointer engraving pattern was November 28, 1960; the last serial number for 20’s in 1960 was 20640 and this gun is 19832.  This gun was engraved and double signed “V Missen” (Gaston Vandermissen).

This fine, round knob, long tang 20 gauge remains 100% original.  The 26 ½” vent rib barrels are choke marked IC/M and measure .011 & .018 (IC/M).  The original finishes retain 97% overall condition.  There are a few marks on the left side of the buttstock towards the heel, probably as a result of hitting buttons on the vest of a right handed shooter.  Otherwise there are no cracks or chips in the fine French walnut stock and forearm with 98% finish.  The barrel blue is 98% with one small mark ahead of the foream from assembly and disassembly.   The coin finish has some spots of oxidation apparent under the finish.  It weighs a mere 5 lbs. 9 ounces.  The stock is typical 14 ¼” LOP over original buttplate; 1 ½” DAC and 2 ¼” DAH.  A very scarce and important Pointer to the Browning collector.
