Manufactured circa 1870s with a total quantity estimated at 2,000. The top barrel flat is marked "XL. DERRINGER" with "PAT. APR. 5, 1870" marked on the upper left flat. Personal inscription italic initials GGP on frame. 90-95% silver with fading bluing on barrel. Rosewood grips and a half-moon blade front sight. The serial number "1083" is marked on the front strap under the left grip panel. .41 caliber with 2 3/4" barrel. Crisp tight action. Clean bore. Fine overall condition. Page 1391 of 2014 Standard Catalog of Firearms – 34th edition states values at 950.00 for "good", 1295.00 for "very good" & 1650.00 for "excellent. Rare gun.
