1840 U.S. Flintlock Musket
Manufactured by Springfield armory, a.k.a. Model 1835. 30,421 units produces of which 26,841 were converted to percussion. .69 caliber muzzleloader with 42” round barrel. Lockplate stamped SPRING/FIELD/1838. Left side of stock stamped “C.L.A. 23”
Condition of metal surfaces varies. Barrel has a consistent brown patina with smooth finish. Some pitting to barrel surface noted on last 4-5 inches towards Flintlock assembly.Flint assembly and lockplate have light freckling and pitting. Stamping is readily legible. Includes bayonet. Stock in good condition with typical dings and marks. One small crack at rear against butt plate.
