14-120 SPENCER MODEL 1865 CARBINE 50 CALIBER
14-120 Spencer Model 1865 Carbine 50 Caliber,20” barrel, Standard markings on top of the receiver: Spencer Repeating Rifle Company/PatMarch 6, 1860 on bbl. Walnut stock with light varnish finish (See Flayderman page 633 #9B-088).Serial number #10655
This Spencer has the original “keeper” which is a metal device designed to hook onto the saddle ring and then fasten on a belt which the cavalry would strap on to their belt (see Flayderman p.616) These are very rare. This is the first original one I have seen.
Condition: Metal has some light corrosion. Barrel and sight are untouched the bluing on barrel has turned dark blue/brown uncleaned. Wood is in very good condition with only a few dents, dings, small hair line cracks etc. Fine Bore has most of rifling and a little light corrosion shiny. Works perfectly mechanically. Overall an attractive Spencer. (14-120) $2,500.00
