The Sauer grade 40 pre WWI shotguns like this one have been one of my favorite of the Prussian guns. They exemplify the quality in design, craftsmanship, and art that this famous German gun maker was capable of. This gun is especially exemplary as it is in wonderful original condition. I can determine it has had no work done to it since its first sale. The chokes, the bore diameter, the blue, the wood finish are all original and excellent. The pad may or may not be as sold as these guns were offered with these types of pads.
